Hah! I bet you expected sweet little pictures of all my relatives. No such luck! Although my immediate family - brothers, sister, their offspring - is important to me, I feel no need to introduce you to them.
I
have, however, reached that (un)certain age where one starts to think about
one's four bears. I find parts of my family history, or at least what I know
so far, rather interesting. My father's mother was one of 13 children - possibly
more, but 13 survived into adulthood. I'm told
her
mother (who was herself one of 10 or 11) had 6 or 7 children and then had had
enough and went back to her mother. Mother, however, was having none of it (this
was, after all, the 19th century) and sent her daughter
back to her husband to have the remaining 6 or 7 children.
My great grandmother's father was a Pole called Tomasz Lepik, and he immigrated to the United Kingdom in the 1830s. It's not clear why he left Poland, but it's a little difficult to discover any information about him.
More on this later...... maybe.......
